Oh yes! Yes! Yes! The reason Anthony Bourdain was in DC is because he’s filming an episode of my favorite a favorite tv show: No Reservations.
I’m sorry I missed his DC visit (maybe he’ll still be shooting when I get back – though why he’d choose the swampy-DC-summer-weather season, I’ll never know), but at least the DCist and other local DC bloggers are keeping tabs.

If his theme this time is the “two sides of DC,” I wonder which sides he’ll choose? The obvious choice is the up-scale eateries that have been progressively popping up around DC as of late v. the ethnic food from the many diverse neighborhoods… but knowing Tony and knowing No Reservations, that seems entirely too predictable. I agree with many of the commenters on DCist’s post that Ben’s Chili Bowl – while amazing – is entirely too predictable and he shouldn’t bother with it… but who knows. He would likely make a visit there actually interesting and fresh to watch.
If Tony had asked me where to go in DC, I’d recommend:
Ceiba, Mama Ayesha’s, Oyamel (instead of Cafe Atlantico- though I’ve never met a Jose Andres establishment I didn’t heart), and manoosh’s food cart – the GW half smoke vendor that was there when I was enrolled (1998-2002) but may/may not still be there. Obviously there are many others… what would you suggest? Leave it in the comments below.
