2006 Malbec just hangin out

All of these things are true. Especially #3. But it is because of #5 that I am writing this post right now.

The weather in DC is turning brisk – crisp even. And it’s glorious. I’m soaking it in. I’m sleeping straight through the night. My air conditioner is off, and I’m having sweet dreams (dreams!) again.

Lovely.

So don’t tell anyone, but I took my full lunch hour to go outside, get a delish salad (I swear by the grilled asian with shrimp), get a beautifully handmade birthday card, and check-out one of DC’s many new cupcake shops, hello cupcake (I’ll be keep you posted as to whether I liked it better than baked & wired).

my peanut butter blossom cupcake was damaged in the transport, poor little guy.

Again, lovely.

So is it really a shock that I spent the rest of my day dreaming of a big, warm glass of red wine? Of course not. So as I walked home from work with KP, my yapping mouth prevented me from noticing that I was following her into Whole Foods… where I surprised myself and picked-up a Malbec, and not my go-to wine, the Chianti (a semester in Rome, Italy will do that to a girl).

It’s not that I’ve never had a Malbec before (some malbec grapes come from Chile, so obvi I’m a fan), but Chianti is just my usual. Still, in the spirit of mixing things up a bit, I went for it.

And three glasses in, I’m so glad I did.

Yummy.

I almost don’t need to eat my cupcake… almost.
