I don’t like space, I don’t like traditionally sci-fi fare, and I haven’t seen any of the other Star Trek movies… or Star Wars movies, for that matter. You see, I mix those two franchises up. I have no business going to see this movie.
But I do love me some J.J. Abrams (LOST!)… and I’m oddly drawn to Zachary Quinto and his Spock ears. Plus, I love the songs I’ve heard them use for the trailers. And that’s a sure-fire way to suck me in.
Yikes. Do I need to go see it now? Will this successfully turn me into the nerd I know I am?

I saw it on Sunday and it was pretty awesome. I had never seen any of the Star Trek movies and had only occasionally seen some of the tv series. It was loud and fast and you definitely didn’t need to know very much about the history at all.
